Tel Aviv will be celebrating Purim in a big way Friday. Beginning at 10 a.m. Rehov Ben-Yehuda will host an array of activities, shows and costumed performers on colorful stages throughout the street. This is the first time Ben-Yehuda will be a focal point for this kind of Purim extravaganza, with the area between Frishman and Arlosoroff marking the main stage. In addition to the colorful plays, masks, music, dancers and costumes on offer, some of Israel 's biggest children's acts will be on hand. Among them are Yaniv Hamagniv (Yaniv the Great), Spongebob Squarepants, Kobi Mahat, Saba Tuvia, Sharon Shahal, Chen Hagai and more. The excitement winds down at 2 p.m. Jerusalem will hold a similar street fair called "Go Wild on Hillel" on Monday from 4 to 11 p.m. The Rehov Hillel event will feature a Venetian masquerade including Italian street theater, clowns, parades, creative workshops and more. Hadag Nahash will perform in the evening to launch a dance party and costume contest.
