The American indie band Animal Collective, a big name in avant-garde 'freak folk,'will make its first trip to Israel next month as part of a world tour. The band was established by childhood friends from Baltimore after they moved to New York. Members Panda Bear, Avey Tare, Deakin and Geologist released their first album, Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished, in 2000. The group's most recent album, Strawberry Jam, came out last year. Animal Collective will play at the Zappa Club in Tel Aviv on October 23.
