MK Ze’ev Bielski (Kadima), chairman of the Subcommittee for the Readiness of the Home Front of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said on Saturday at a cultural event in Ramat Gan that Israel has not learned the lessons of the second Lebanon war.

He stated: "The situation is still dire, with too few shelters for millions of people. They don't have protective devices [gas masks], nor will they in the foreseeable future."

He expressed hope that the government would reconsider the dire home front conditions before launching an attack.
