Brazil allocates $14m. to the Gaza strip

BRASILIA — Brazil has committed to giving nearly $14 million to help in the reconstruction of Palestinian territories.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has signed a bill allocating the funds for the Gaza Strip.
The donation follows a United Nations request for international help for the region.
Silva signed the bill after meeting with Palestine Authority Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath late Tuesday.
Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim said Wednesday the money will be sent to a U.N. fund.
