Carmel appointed to head Police Investigations Department

The Justice Ministry announced on Monday the appointment of Uri Carmel as head of the Police Investigations Department. Carmel, 46, has served as deputy head of the department since 2009.
Carmel, a graduate of Harvard and Hebrew Universities, specialized in criminal trials during his 13 years in the State Attorney's Office, first as a criminal prosecutor and then as head of criminal affairs.
Recently, Carmel took a lead role in the investigation of police chief candidate Uri Bar Lev. Bar Lev was suspected of sexual offenses and suspended himself from the police.
