Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger expressed hope on Wednesday that newly reelected President Barack Obama will release jailed Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard during his second term in office.
Speaking to "Radio Kol Hai", Metzger stated: "I have hope that after the election he [Obama] will have more courage to release Jonathan Pollard. I have even more hope that he will in fact be released in this term."
Metzger added: "Its not a singular meaning of whether Obama was good for the Jews or not. Don't forget that when the Palestinians wanted to declare a Palestinian state, and Obama went wild and cast a veto against the proposal in order to prevent it."
