Court extends remand of man suspected of beating patient

The Haifa Magistrates' Court on Monday ruled to extend the detention of Krisna Nariana, the 37-year-old home care worker arrested on Friday on suspicion of physically abusing an elderly patient.

Nariana, an Indian citizen who has worked in Israel for over three years, was arrested after the victim's sons used hidden cameras to film him beating their father, after the octogenarian complained of abuse.

In Monday's hearing, the police said that Nariana has given investigators his version of events, but the investigation into the abuse is still continuing.

There are video recordings of several instances of abuse, police noted.
