Danino will be Israel's next police chief

Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch on Sunday announced at a press conference that Southern District Commander Yochanan Danino will be the next chief of Israel Police.

The minister described Danino as an able, veteran officer who is up to facing the challenges of law enforcement in Israel today.

During his announcement,
Aharonovitch said that he hoped his decision would "bring calm and stabilize the police following recent turmoil."
