EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton on Wednesday called planned demolitions in east Jerusalem "illegal" and "obstacle to peace," according to an AFP report.
Ashton went on to say the demolition would make a two-state solution
impossible. The EU does not recognize Israel's annexation of east Jerusalem.
The controversial demolitions are planned to make room for a new archeological park. Last Sunday, police clashed with some 200 Arab demonstrators in Silwan over the plan.
