Egypt: Barak's apology for soldiers' deaths not enough

The Egyptian cabinet characterized as insufficient Defense Minister Ehud Barak's statement of regret for the deaths of Egyptian security officers who were apparently shot by IDF troops as they returned fire at the terrorists who carried out Thursday's attacks near Eilat, AFP reported on Sunday.
"The Israeli statement was positive on the surface but it was not in keeping with the magnitude of the incident and the state of Egyptian anger toward Israeli actions,"  a cabinet statement read.
"Egypt affirms its solicitude for maintaining peace with Israel but Israel must also assume responsibility for protecting this peace," the statement said, requesting that Israel place a timeline on its offer to investigate the incident.
