Egyptian troops discover 5 smuggling tunnels near Gaza Strip border

Egyptian security forces discovered five smuggling tunnels in the Egyptian part of Rafah, a border town split between the southern Gaza Strip and the northern Sinai, Army Radio reported Friday afternoon. According to the Palestinian Ma'an news agency, two cars loaded with refrigerators, shoes and printer paper were found in the tunnels. Israeli security officials expressed satisfaction with the improvement in emphasis Egyptian forces were placing on the issue of smuggling, the station reported.
