Chief Palestinian Negotiator, Dr. Saeb Erekat, called upon the international community to prevent a "new massacre" against the Palestinian people, the Palestine News Network (PNN) reported Thursday.

"The international community has the responsibility to prevent a new massacre against our people," PNN quoted Erekat as saying.

He also called upon Israel not to escalate its attacks in the Gaza Strip. "Due to their illegal blockade, Israel remains the occupying power in Gaza. Therefore we hold Israel fully responsible for any harm to our people there," PNN reported.
