Ethics C’tee reprimands Zoabi for unauthorized travel

The Knesset Ethics Committee severely reprimanded MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad) on Tuesday for traveling abroad with funding from an outside body without the committee’s permission.
Zoabi flew to South Africa at the end of April to meet with government officials and members of parliament. However, she did not submit the proper form and information to the Ethics Committee until after she returned to Israel.
MKs must report all travel that is not self-funded or paid for by the Knesset at least one week in advance, and receive permission from the Ethics Committee, which determines whether the trip is a conflict of interest or an unfair benefit.
The Ethics Committee pointed out that it reprimanded Zoabi for the same reason in March, and said the MK’s repeat offenses disrespect the Knesset.
