The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that "Israel expresses its regret over the step adopted by Ireland, although not surprised by it considering the many years of biased policy relating to the conflict," Army Radio reported.

Additionally, officials in Jerusalem expressed concern that Spain, Belgium and and Scandinavian countries were expected to announce their unilateral recognition of an independent Palestinian state. The sources estimated that the European will be used by the United States as a tool to pressure Israel, according to the report.
