French FM proposes Mideast peace conference in Paris

The French foreign minister has proposed a Middle East peace conference in Paris before the end of July to restart negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, AFP reported Thursday.
"We would be prepared, on the basis of a request by the (Mideast) Quartet, to organize in Paris..., before the end of July, a conference that would not be simply for the donors but a broader political conference involving the negotiation process," French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe was quoted as saying.
The comments came during a press conference in Ramallah with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
