A Hamas delegation in Gaza, led by Mahmoud Zahar, left Sunday afternoon for consultations in Damascus. The members of the delegation left the Gaza Strip through Rafah, and it was not clear if a meeting in Cairo was in the offing. In the next few days, Hamas is expected to announce to the German mediator its answer to Israel's proposal on a prisoner exchange that would include the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit.
