IDF soldier, girlfriend identified as drowning victims

The two teenagers who drowned off of Ashdod on Saturday have been identified as Yivgeni Baskevitch, a 19-year-old IDF soldier from Ashdod and his 15-year-old girlfriend, also from Ashdod, Valerie Strotinski.

Strotinski's body washed ashore early Saturday morning and Baskevitch was discovered dead several hours later.

The two had been at a birthday party on the beach in Ashdod several kilometers south of where they were discovered.
