An initial investigation Friday night suggested that friendly fire caused the death of one IDF soldier and lead to four others being injured along the Gaza border earlier in the day.

According to preliminary reports, a cell of terrorists was situated along the fence near Kibbutz Nirim and opened fire on IDF soldiers from the Paratroopers Brigade with automatic weapons and mortars.
