Iranian Google users subject of attempted cyber-attacks

Iranian Internet users attempting to access Google services were the subject of man-in-the-middle attacks, the Google Online Security Blog reported on Monday.

The SSL man-in-the-middle attacks constituted someone trying to get between the users and encrypted Google services by using a fraudulent SSL certificate issued by DigiNotar.

Google called on users, especially those in Iran, to deter unwanted surveillance by keeping web browsers and operating systems up to date and by paying attention to web browser security warnings.
