Iraq: Al Qaida announces curfew in effort to stifle election

Al Qaida in Iraq announced a general curfew in an attempt to block Sunni Muslims from participating in upcoming elections there, Israel Radio reported.

In the last elections, most Sunnis in the country, which has a large Shia population, refrained from voting, but it was expected that they would take a much more active role in voting this time.
