Israel Railways employees to strike new Rishon-TA line

Israel Railways employees announced that they would not come to work on the new Rishon Lezion West-Tel Aviv line which was scheduled to be inaugurated on Sunday. The move came despite the fact that the Tel Aviv Regional Labor Court issued an injunction against workers' sanctions which caused transportation delays on Thursday.

Employees worked normally on Saturday evening, but stated that no labor conditions had been agreed to regarding the new line.

The workers have requested that the Tel Aviv Regional Labor Court repeal the injunction issued against them. They wish to continue their work dispute, stemming from an Israel Railways management plan to have the company which manufactures the train cars perform maintenance on the trains instead of Israel Railways employees.
