Jerusalem raised its security alert level following the stabbing of a Jewish man in a public bathroom at Jerusalem’s Bloomfield Park Wednesday afternoon, allegedly by an Arab assailant, Army Radio reported.

At the central bus station in the capital all incoming passengers were subject to an x-ray screening for the first time in months and had to wait in long lines, according to the report.

The Jerusalem Police said that there was tension in the city and confirmed that the raising of the security alert level was in fact connected to Wednesday's stabbing but that it was not the only factor leading to the change.
