Katzav's sentencing hearing to be heard in open court

The Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office filed today the composition of judges, headed by Judge George Kara, to hear the sentencing arguments against former president Moshe Katzav who was convicted two weeks ago of two rapes, among other charges, Army Radio reported Wednesday.
According to the prosecution, there is nothing that should prevent the existing sentences from being presented in front of an open court, except for incidents related to the injury of the complainants.
This decision contradicts the prosecution's previous claims that the an open court session could possibly harm the privacy of the complainants. The former president's lawyers had, on several occasions, spoken out in favor of having sessions in an open court.
