Knesset Speaker Reuvin Rivlin on Thursday expressed support for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's reported decision to unite his Likud party with Avigdor Liberman's Yisrael Beytenu, saying the move would "contribute to the long-term stability of the government and the strength of overall governance in Israel."

Rivlin added that the partnership between Likud and Yisrael Beytenu would "reduce the political pressures caused by the growing number of sectoral parties over the last few years."
