Litterers to face 1-3 years jail time

The Internal Affairs and Environment Committee approved in second and third readings on Thursday amendments to the Cleaning Maintenance Law, which will toughen punishments for littering, a spokesman for the committee announced that morning.
From October 1 and on, both regular and construction waste throwers will face a penalty of one to three years of imprisonment, according to the spokesman. Meanwhile, the court will also impound trucks used to dispose the garbage that have committed the same offense twice within five years, he said.
