Opposition leader Tzipi Livni criticized Housing Minister Ariel Attias's affordable housing program on Wednesday, calling it an insult to last summer's social protests.

"Attias's housing plan spits in the face of all those who took to the streets to protest last summer," Livni said at a 40-signatures meeting over the failure of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's government.

She said the plan, which social-protest leaders said Wednesday favored the haredi (ultra-Orthodox) sector, is a "disgrace to the Trajtenberg Committee [for socioeconomic change] recommendations."
