The Local Government Center announced a general strike of local authorities on Sunday in the hopes of increasing their budgets and lowering the price of water.

The Education Ministry announced in response that schools would operate on their regular schedule despite the strike and called on students and teachers to arrive at school as usual on Sunday.

Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat said that the Jerusalem Municipality will not take part in the strike. Barkat stated that he wishes to minimize the suffering of the city's residents, Israel Radio reported.
