Magen David Adom called on the public on Tuesday to donate  blood of Type O and Types A, B and O with Rh- factors due to a severe blood shortage during the current period of  vacations. Such donations can save lives, said the organization’s blood services.

Due to the large number of Israelis either abroad or on vacations in locations distant from home, there is a risk that hospitals will not be able to perform non-emergency operations.

Every donor receives a year’s blood insurance for himself and his immediate family. One can donate at the MDA Blood Center at Tel Hashomer on Wednesday and Thursday between 8 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. and between 8 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. on Friday, and at other MDA facilities listed on the organization’s website at www.mdais.org/dam. One can also call (03) 530-0400 for information. Organized groups of 20 people or more should call (03) 530-0402/69.
