A 42-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicions that he raped a five-year-old girl, in Holon, on Monday.

The girl’s mother told police that the man had played hide and seek with the girl and other children and sent her daughter to hide in a nearby building, where he committed the deed.

Police apprehended the man in a nearby apartment, where they discovered that he was residing under house arrest. The suspect was indicted last month for the molestation of another girl in Yavneh and was in Holon awaiting his trial.

The man’s lawyer denied the accusations saying the man was inside his home during the time of the alleged attack, as the arrest requires. He explained that the man is confined to his home by an electronic tracker, which raises alarms if he leaves the premises.

Police believe the man somehow managed to remove or disable the device in order to commit the offense. The court remanded the suspect for four days.
