The Mayor of Nazareth Illit, Shimon Gafaso, and two of his senior aides were released to ten days' house arrest on Sunday following their arrest on bribery suspicions.

Gafaso is suspected by police of receiving hundreds of thousands of shekels in bribes. Police suspect the funds were transferred from bribes givers to the mayor via his two assistants.

All three suspects have denied the suspicions against them.
