Monti sworn in as new Italian prime minister

ROME - Former Prime Minister Mario Monti was sworn in on Wednesday as Italy's new prime minister.

Monti, a former European commissioner, was the first member of the new government to be sworn in by President Giorgio Napolitano at the Quirinale Palace.
