Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a meeting of the IDF General Staff Forum on Monday, saying ahead of Thursday's Independence Day that "the meaning of independence in my eyes is the ability to defend yourself."

The prime minister said that Israel has an answer to all of the threats surrounding the Jewish state, "and all of those answers are found here in this room," he said to the assembled IDF brass.

Netanyahu said that both he and the Israeli public have full trust in IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot and in the IDF.
