A police spokesman announced Thursday that the police expect to appoint a new SWAT commander, in charge of the special unit for fighting terrorism, within days, Israel Radio reported.

There is an ongoing debate about whether to appoint the new commander from the police ranks or from the military.

Of the six candidates being considered, two of them currently serve in the IDF.
