Olmert resigned due to preliminary testimony, lawyer says

Former prime minister Ehud Olmert's attorney, Eli Zohar, said Tuesday at the beginning of Olmert's corruption trial that "Olmert was forced to resign from his position as prime minister because of the preliminary testimony of the central witness, Morris Talansky."
"He was brought to testimony amid conflicting claims, which have not been reinforced," Zohar said.
