Organs of young skateboard accident victim save five people

Five people’s lives were saved on Sunday from six organs donated by the family of a boy, Yotam Melamed, who fell from a skateboard last week and tragically suffered severe and irreversible brain damage that led to his death.
After it became certain that he had suffered from lower-brain death, the family agreed to give his organs at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. All were performed at the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus.
A lung was given to a 52-year-old man and the other to a 63-year-old man. The liver went to a 57-year-old man. One kidney and pancreas were transplanted into a 36-year-old woman and the other kidney into a 23-year-old man.
In addition, his corneas were removed for transplant at Sourasky on Monday.
