PM will not allow employment for African migrants

Prime Minister's Office Director-General Harel Locker said on Monday that the prime minister opposes any solution to the migrants controversy which offers migrants employment opportunities, Israel Radio reported.
According to Locker, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu believes that offering such opportunities will only encourage greater number of Africans to try to cross over into Israel illegally. The director-general said that a clear message must be sent discouraging Africans from coming to Israel illegally in the future.
Locker added that Israel has already deported 27,000 migrants who had come or were residing in Israel illegally. He said that there are still approximately 62,000 migrants in Israel, primarily from Sudan and Eretria.
He also said that Israel is trying to complete construction of a southern border fence which will stop the flood of migrants illegally crossing the border.
