'Paraguay to recognize Palestinian statehood within months'

Palestinian Authority officials Sunday said that Paraguay plans on recognizing a Palestinian state in the first half of next year, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.
A Palestinian Authority Foreign Ministry statement said that Paraguayan Foreign Minister Hector Lacognata set a spring 2011 deadline for recognizing Palestinian statehood, according to Ma'an.
The step would follow in the footsteps of several other South American countries that have recently recognized a Palestinian state, notably, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia and Ecuador.
