Peace envoy Brahimi set to hold Syria talks in Moscow

UN-Arab League peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi was set to hold talks on Saturday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on how to end the 21-month-old conflict in Syria, Al Arabiya reported.
Al Arabiya quoted a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying that the talks were aimed “at ending the violence and launching a national dialogue in [Syria] between the authorities and the opposition.”
Brahimi’s trip to Russia, a long-time Syria ally, comes on the heels of several meetings he held in Damascus over the past week, including one with Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Following that meeting, Brahimi warned that "The situation in Syria still is a reason for worry."
