The Prime Minister's Office announced Thursday the promotion of Raffi Shamir to head the spokesman's office.

Shamir, who has worked in the PMO's spokesman's office for some 18 months, will fill the post vacated by Liran Dan when he took over for Yoaz Hendel as director of communications in February. Hendel quit in the wake of the Natan Eshel affair.

Shamir has worked previously as a spokesman at the British embassy in Tel Aviv, and before that in the spokesman's unit at the Jerusalem municipality.
