Syrian troops and tanks have surrounded the northern town Jisr al-Shughour, where 120 state security forces were reportedly killed last week, the Associated Press reported.

Syrian state television reported that the troops have begun operating inside the town, the AP reported. Rumors of an impending military operation led to a stream of refugees entering Turkey in recent days.
