BUCHAREST - Romania's President Traian Basescu nominated Catalin Predoiu as interim prime minister, replacing Emil Boc who stepped down earlier on Monday.
The 43-year-old lawyer was Boc's justice minister.
Predoiu was previously a member of the opposition Liberal Party, from which he resigned to sit as an independent lawmaker after he took the justice post in 2008.
