Ruling party win Ethiopian elections

Early results from the Ethiopian elections indicate that the ruling party and its allies have won in 9 of the 11 regions.
EU observers said that more than 70 percent of the electorate had cast votes, however there were reports of irregularities, particularly in the period before the election.
Prime Minister Meles Zenawi took power in a 1991 military coup and is a US ally.  An election also took place in 2005.
