Syria on Saturday welcomed the positive results that were achieved by Hamas and Fatah's efforts at Palestinian unity, Syria's official news agency said.

A statement from the Foreign Ministry in Damascus said that "Syria believes that the steps taken towards signing the reconciliation agreement is a great victory for the Palestinian people in its justified struggle for restoration of its rights and the liberation of its territory."
