AMMAN - Syrian authorities released on Sunday Diana Jawabra, whose arrest this month helped fuel mass protests in her home city of Deraa against Ba'ath party rule.
One of Jawabra's lawyers told Reuters that Jawabra was among 16 people released on Sunday. They took part in a silent demonstration this month demanding the release of political prisoners and of 15 children arrested in Deraa for writing freedom slogans on school walls.
