Tiberias: Man rapes 11-year-old girl in Succah

A 35-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of raping an 11-year-old girl in a succa near the site of the tomb of Rabbi Meir Baal Haness in Tiberias.

The man, a friend of the girl’s family, had camped out near the site together with the family on Saturday evening.

The girl’s mother told police she awoke late at night and began searching for her daughter. She found her in the succa and the suspect close to her. After asking her daughter what had happened, the mother contacted police.

The suspect has denied the suspicions against him.

The Nazareth Magistrate’s Court extended his custody by six days.
