The Jerusalem District Court on Wednesday sentenced two Palestinians to two years in prison for plotting to kidnap IDF soldiers. In the framework of a plea bargain, Iad and Abdullah A'abid admitted to have planned a kidnapping in which they would crash their car into a military jeep located on the edge of the Isawiya neighborhood in east Jerusalem, and then kidnap the soldiers in that jeep. Their goal was to carry out a prisoner exchange between the soldiers who would have been kidnapped and two members of Iad's family who are incarcerated for life in Israeli prisons.
