Shots were fired at a Walmart store in Grand Forks, North Dakota, early on Tuesday and two people were killed, including the gunman, WDAZ television reported.

The 1:00 am shooting involved an airman from the Grand Forks Air Force Base, WDAZ reported.

One witness who spoke with the television station said he heard "popping sounds" going off in the store and, when he left the building later, he saw a Walmart employee covered in blood.

The store was on lockdown as the investigation continued, WDAZ reported.
