UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned on Thursday the bombing in southern Beirut earlier in the day that killed and wounded a number of people.

He called on all parties in Lebanon to act with restraint following the incident to prevent further escalation of the violence witnessed in the country in recent months.

Ban highlighted "the need for the instigators and perpetrators of this crime to be brought to justice as soon as possible," a statement said.
