Assistant US Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Andrew Shapiro was set to arrive in Israel for meetings Wednesday and Thursday, leading the US delegation to the US-Israel Joint Political-Military Group, which meets every year and alternates between the two countries.

The discussions are aimed in part 
at maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge, according to the State Department.
