US activists try to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza via Egypt

About 100 US activists have arrived in Egypt with the intention of traveling to the Gaza Strip to try to deliver medical aid despite a blockade on the territory. If successful, it would be the largest group of US activists to enter the Strip since Egypt and Israel sealed their borders follow the 2007 Hamas takeover. While most of the aid was cleared by the Egyptian government, it was unclear whether authorities would approve the private medical aid. The US-based organizer of the 'Viva Palestina' group said Sunday that the aid was worth about $1 million.
